From the Handicap Committee

GOLFAs we continue to establish and improve our handicap let's take a look at what some of the terms and numbers mean!

  • A golfer whose handicap is zero is called a "scratch golfer."
  • A female bogey golfer is a player who has a Course Handicap of approximately 24 on a course of standard difficulty. She can hit tee shots an average of 150 yards and reach a 280-yard hole in two shots.
  • A golfer whose handicap is 20 is called a "bogey golfer."
  • A professional golfer plays off scratch, but has no actual handicap.
  • Course name - where you played your round of golf.
  • Course rating - a number generally between 67 and 77 that is used to measure the average "good score" by a scratch golfer on that course.
  • Course slope - ratio generally between 105 and 155 that describes the difficulty of a course for a bogey golfer.

If you have handicap questions, please let me know.

Next Eblast we will discuss the handicap rules and requirements for the Chapter Championship.
